This section of Reach Out Pro provides you with information and
resources that you can use to support your work with young
people.
Navigating the Mental Health resources
Each mental health topic listed in the sidebar contains a brief
description of a disorder or issue, links to further information
and relevant research, and a set of recommended resources that are
intended to compliment your work with young people.
Once you have opened the mental health topic, you will find
links in the side navigation to supplementary resources under two
headings:
Resources for Healthcare
Professionals
These sections provide links that
lead to related websites that can provide vital information for you
and your work. These would especially include websites related to
mental health issues within Australia, but may also include
international research websites.
Resources for Young
People
These sections highlight factsheets,
stories, video and digital stories, that direct you to the
ReachOut.com website. Here you can print out the information or
email to a young person.
The resources recommended in these section have been produced
by ReachOut.com and our development partners -
Brain & Mind Research Institute, Orygen Youth Health and
headspace, Central Coast.
How to use the resources from this
section with young people
Click on the disorder
of interest, for example Mood Disorders, Depression
etc.
View the list of
resources, and if available, the resources for young
people. This will take you to another website (ReachOut.com)
and you will need to use the "back" button or the left facing
arrow, to return to the original page.
Read the resources
and descriptions of the additional resources, noting
whether the resource is a fact sheet, story, digital story or
video.
View the resource online,
print it, save it to your desktop and then copy to a flash drive or
email it to the young person you are seeing. These options
are listed to the top of the page (print, share, tag).
