Amphetamines are drugs known as stimulants which provide the
user with a sharp burst of energy after consumption. People
who consume amphetamines report immediate effects of euphoria and
confidence, however, frequent use often results in a dependence on
the drug. People who excessively consume amphetamines find
themselves feeling anxious, aggressive and so fixated on the
prospect of "scoring" that they may withdraw from their peers or
fail to address their responsibilities. They may also feel a sense
of guilt or shame about their drug seeking, and will engage in
secretive behavior that can create conflict with family and
friends. In extreme cases, depression or even psychosis can be the
result of a long term dependency on amphetamines.
