Body Dysmorphic Disorder is characterised by excessive concern
about or preoccupation with a part of one's own body, for example a
face mole or a nose bump. Body Dysmorphic Disorder is associated
with low self esteem or negative beliefs about physical appearance.
A person with this disorder may avoid going out because they are
self conscious, depressed or anxious in social situations. In some
cases the affected individual may try to fix their body part
through exercise, medication or surgery.
