developed to provide support and information to young people who
have depression, and to support other young people who are
concerned about someone whom they think may have depression.
Its online, interactive features are highly effective in
reaching young people and providing information on depression in a
captivating, easy to understand way.
- The site is interactive and allows the user to select a
celebrity "guide" to walk the user through the five sections.
- The site provides information about depression, stories about
other people's experiences, a chat room, fact sheets and resources,
and multimedia content.
- LowDown NZ also provides support through a moderated forum, and
a free SMS service for users based within New Zealand.
Overall, the site gives a basic yet effective introduction to
depression in an engaging manner and effectively normalises help
seeking for young people.
